Hidden Gems: Meet Amy Lyndon of The Lyndon Technique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lyndon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been an actress since I was ten years old. I used to jump on a train when I was 16 to study in NYC at The Neighborhood Playhouse. When I was 17, I studied Shakespeare in London, England and then went on to receive my BFA from Syracuse University in Drama. My family followed my Uncle to California after he won an Oscar for Executive Producing ROCKY. My first movie was A NIGHT IN HEAVEN working with Andy Garcia and the famous director John Avildsen. I have 120+ IMDB credits, which also includes directing, writing and producing.

I have been teaching my Booking Technique, “The Lyndon Technique: The 15 Guideline Map To Booking,” of which I created for 28 years. The Technique has turned out well over 53 Network Series Regulars, an Emmy Award Winner, an Imagen Award Winner and 1000’s of actors working around the world.

Also, I just recently launched my inspiration and motivational brand, I Am Enough Collection.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have created many businesses along the way and sometimes it seemed like I was alone and the struggle to get anywhere was real. But when I let myself reach out to those who knew more than I did, I felt supported and it kept the dream alive. I felt the positive energy to move forward and that my dream wasn’t as far away as I thought.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Lyndon Technique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
“The Lyndon Technique: The 15 Guideline Map To Booking” has proven to be an Actor’s secret weapon. It dispels the myths of the audition process and provides the Actor with an effective, straightforward approach to nailing their auditions and booking the job. It helps them study smarter, feel empowered in their auditions and always know what they are doing. The Technique teaches you how to compete and beat your competition, how to break down a scene, how to not pick up energy in the room, how to rid yourself of nerves, how to get into the 1% ratio of working actors and how to be in your heart – not your head.

Amy Lyndon was voted one of the “Top Audition Technique Teachers” by Backstage.com for four years, her book was nominated by the Reader’s Choice at Backstage.com as a top acting book proudly sitting alongside Stella Adler, Sandford Meisner and Michael Shurleff’s books. She also ran the column “Ask Amy” for Castittalent.com and was an Expert Writer for Backstage.com for over two years.

“The Lyndon Technique” is part of the curriculum at the University of Kansas and was part of “Aaron Sorkin Week” through Syracuse University. Amy has had the opportunity to travel all over the United States and parts of Canada conducting intensives and lecturing about how to make it in the acting world teaching her Technique, helping Actors understand the philosophical principles of booking and teaching the importance and application of marketing and business strategies.

Now that everything is on Zoom, Amy has had the honor to coach Actors all over the world!!
